| It says it can't find some vids/decompressor or there is no image on my video! What do I do? | | Check out the identify codec section, it is likely that you need a codec before you can play your file. If you already know which codec you need then install the codec. |
| How many codecs are there? Can't I just download all of them? | | No, you cannot! There are hundreds, even thousands of different codecs floating around the net. Not even we know about all of them |
| How do I see which codecs I already have on my system? | | To figure out which codecs that you already have installed on your system, first open the Control Panel (Start -> Settings -> Control Panel). Now click "Multimedia"/"Sounds and Multimedia" (depending on which version of Windows you are using). In the window that you now see click on "Advanced"/"Devices"/"Hardware". On the list you now see you can select "Audio Codecs" or "Video Codecs" to see which codecs you have installed on the system. E.g. now you double-click "Video Codecs" and then you'll get another dialog window, in this you need to select "Properties" and then it should contain a list over DLL files, these are the installed video codecs. |
